Public and private road disputes

Has successfully handled suits involving claims over access across public and private roads and easements by necessity, estoppel, grant, or by prescription.

Boundary dispute claims

Has successfully handled boundary dispute claims between parties claiming title to strips of adjoining land either through trespass to try title or declaratory judgment claims through trial and through settlements that involved creating new property lines and re-platting the property.

Easement Claims

Perry Cockerell recently successfully defended banks and property owners who purchased property in a subdivision and were sued after one property owner filed suit to declare the subdivision illegal and wanted an easement across the property that would have extended into the yards of the new homes. The court granted judgment for his clients and awarded legal fees.

Defense of Bad Faith Claims Against Title Insurance Companies

Perry Cockerell has defended title insurance companies against claims of bad faith and mishandling  claims, resulting in summary judgment against the party bringing suit against the title insurance company.

Defense of foreclosure proceedings by lienholder

Successfully defended foreclosure proceedings of lienholders against temporary restraining orders and injunctions. Successfully represented secured claimants in bankruptcy proceedings in motions to lift the automatic stay, adequate protection, use, sale and lease motions, plan objections and dischargeability of debt proceedings.
